Abstract: This proposal seeks to add one member to the DAO Finance Committee (DFC). The DFC is currently at 5 members, with plans for GiantKin to be stepping into the role of Alternate within the DFC. This proposal would assign Bishop as the 5th member of the committee.
The compensation for this committee member is constant at $1,250 worth of FOX per month. This proposal would have a net impact of +0 worth of FOX per month (old comp of $1,250 worth of FOX no longer paid to GiantKin).
Summary: Bishop has been interviewed by the DFC in DFC meetings and has been recommended for this position by the DFC.
Bishop has spent 20 years working in various areas of finance working with data analytics, risk policy, risk management, fraud and loss prevention, and business intelligence In these roles, Bishop was responsible for managing a diverse risk portfolio of $5B, KPI development and management, and leading a CRM system overhaul including digital transformation . Most recently Bishop spent almost two years working with Binance US implementing risk rules and control functions, as well as directing the loss team reducing fraud activities by 30%. This was accomplished by using personal knowledge related to risk assessments of fiat to crypto transactions and system intrusion, aa well as a combination of IP risk/fraud detection, vigorous data cleaning, analysis, and iterative hypothesis testing using python. The findings were then used to create Risk Rules that were implemented within Cybersource and Tableau.

Bishop has recently joined the Shapeshift DAO and is eager and passionate about sharing and leveraging his knowledge of tokenization, dApp creation, risk and fraud framework with the DAO. He is specifically looking forward to using his knowledge of penetration testing and constant research into new fraud practices within web3, smart contract auditing and authoring in combination with utilizing the many tools we use to monitory activity to make sure the Shapeshift ecosystem and associated protocols are set to prevent loss and mitigate risk at the point of origin.

Transition Period:
• Effective Date: Bishop’s role as the 5th DFC member begins on August 1, 2024. During the initial transition, both Bishop and GiantKin will collaborate to ensure a smooth transfer of responsibilities and knowledge. This period is crucial for Bishop to fully integrate into his new role with a clear understanding of the DFC’s ongoing and upcoming projects.
Attendance Expectations:
• Regular Participation: Bishop is expected to attend nearly every DFC meeting to ensure active participation and effective decision-making. Regular attendance is critical in maintaining the continuity and integrity of the DFC’s operations.
• Communication of Absences: Any absence longer than one meeting must be clearly communicated in advance. This will allow sufficient time to plan and, if necessary, assign duties to an alternate member, ensuring that the DFC’s work continues uninterrupted.
Motivation: With GiantKin wishing to be utilized in a more limited fashion within the DFC, given his many other roles and responsibilities, we would need to replace his membership to ensure the DFC remained at 5 committee members.
Benefits: The passage of this proposal will ensure the DFC remains at 5 voting members. This proposal also does not add any additional spend by the DFC (net +0).
Drawbacks:
No Significant Drawbacks: The transition is designed to maintain the continuity of institutional knowledge and governance effectiveness. With GiantKin transitioning to an Alternate role within the DFC, his expertise and historical insights will continue to benefit the committee. This ensures that the DFC retains his institutional knowledge while also benefiting from Bishop’s fresh perspectives and specific expertise in areas like risk management and cybersecurity.
