[Proposal] Osmosis Integration on ShapeShift Mobile and Web for ShapeShift Native Wallet and KeepKey
Summary - This proposal would accomplish the following: 1. Add support for OSMO chain/asset on ShapeShift native wallet and KeepKey. 2. Add support for OSMO staking and reward claiming. 3. Add support for swapping OSMO/ATOM. 4. Add support for LPing for OSMO/ATOM pool. This integration would be on both mobile and web.
Abstract - As a ShapeShift user, I want to be able to use the Osmosis DEX so that I can trade assets between blockchains. Users would get more functionality, and access to an additional chain and protocol while using the ShapeShift interfaces. While on ShapeShift Web and Mobile users will be able to send, receive and see their balances for OSMO. They will be able to trade the ATOM/OSMO pair. They will be able to stake OSMO and claim their rewards. They will be able to provide liquidity for the OSMO/ATOM pool. There would need to be a project team formed of a 1 project manager (myself, Danielle), 1-2 UI/UX designers, 3-5 engineers to begin to achieve this goal. After the project spec document is complete we can reassess the resource requirements.
Specification - To achieve this proposal we will have three milestones to meet: A. delivery of UI/UX designs to the community for review/feedback/approval for Osmosis integration into ShapeShift Mobile and Web. This should include functionality and UX for OSMO chain and asset support OSMO staking/reward claiming Swapping on the OSMO/ATOM pair at minimum (additional pairs would be a bonus for the UX but would require additional asset support) LPing for OSMO/ATOM pool (additional pairs would be a bonus for the UX but would require additional asset support)
B. Engineering delivery of (1) and (2) from above in production and tested by Project Manager
C: Engineering delivery of (3) and (4) from above in production and tested by Project Manager
Each of these 3 milestones once accomplished would get 1/3 of the bounty, $100,000 in FOX. The project manager will be allocated 10%, The UI/ UX allocated 20% and the engineering work allocated 70% of the bounty.
We believe that it is also important to include support on the web platform for our hardware wallet, KeepKey for an additional bounty of $30,000 in FOX
D: KeepKey Support for 1-4 from above in production and tested by Project Manager
The project manager will be allocated 5%, The UI/ UX allocated 5% and the engineering work allocated 85% of the bounty of $30,000 in FOX.
The total bounty for completion of A-D is $130,000 in FOX, only to be paid out if the milestones are completed.
Motivation/ Benefits - There are limited solutions for this on the market, providing an opportunity to grab a large user base / market share. We believe that ShapeShift users have a desire to trade IBC enabled tokens in a safe and decentralized way (the ShapeShift way) and if we build an integration with Osmosis they will trade resulting in further usage of decentralized tools via more accessible solutions. There has already been much excitement and support from the OSMO community on this idea, The OSMO community has offered to match our FOX bounty with OSMO (pending their own governance vote)
Drawbacks - This would take time of current ShapeShift Foxes and would need to be in addition to the current work they have on their plates to open source the current codebases. I do believe with both the FOX bounty and the OSMO bounty we will be able to combat this with the right incentives.
Vote - If you vote “for” this proposal you are voting to fund $130,000 in FOX that will be distributed if the milestones laid out above are achieved.
If you vote “against” you are saying you do not believe this integration with Osmosis and OSMO should move forward. Or maybe just not in this way.
Special thanks to JonisJon, Expertbandit, and others that helped form these ideas.
